Not Insured Yet

My first time to be sick for long after so many years. I had a terrible headache, fever, cough and colds. Because of that, I haven’t eaten a full meal since Tuesday morning because my taste buds are also sick. All food are tasteless for me. The other night, I was telling Ace August - September are the months I usually get sick when I was still a student. It’s almost a yearly routine of my immune system. More than a couple of times, Mamang has to confine me to the hospital so that somebody can look over me since she’s going to her teaching work everyday, Carol and Che2x are also in school and Daddy was in the farm.

 I love being admitted to the hospital back then because I can take a full rest. Nothing bothers me and I can sleep as long as I wanted and eat as much as I wanted. What I cannot forget when I am sick whether I’m at home or in the hospital is that Mamang brings home fruits such as rambutan, lanzones and pomelo. Those fruits are in season during my almost yearly sickness schedule and I love munching them all. Of course she brings home even when I am not sick but those times are more special because I can eat more than the share of my sisters. Last night, Ace brought home a big plastic bag of ripe mango but I cannot eat those because of my cough. Mangos aren’t good for people with cough because it will worsen the itchiness in the throat. Hmmm…I would make them mango float when I’m well. Seemed guilty for not bringing home some other fruits, Ace asked if I wanted him to go to the market to buy some fruits like what Mamang’s doing then. The market is almost 20kms from our place so I said no. He’ll buy fruits next time because its already late.

Since I was recounting that I am being confined when nobody could watch over me at home, Ace asked if I wanted to be admitted in the hospital. Not this time because I still have no health insurance. Mine was stopped when I resigned from work and I’m not sure if Ace’ Philhealth M2 form was already forwarded by their HR to PhilHealth. Though they have medical benefits shouldered by the company, we cannot avail of it because Ace is not yet a regular employee. Hence, I would rather stay at home as I can still manage to be alone here when Ace is at work.

I think we really have to take our health insurance seriously now. Will let Ace check on their HR department if they already filed his M2 so that we could use it if needed. I wouldn’t mind about life insurance for now though Ace has a term life insurance paid by the company. We’ll just pray that nothing bad will happen to us because I’m not insured yet.LOL. God forbid!
