It runs in the blood?

Monday, September 15th, 2008

My mother died of cancer. When we were in the hospital, her attending physician asked me if cancer is in our bloodline and I sternly said NO because I was unaware that some of our relatives in my grandfather’s side died of cancer. Does cancer really runs in the blood? Actually, it’s not contagious….but the doctor said there is a high risk for us to also develop cancer because we share the same lifestyle in the family. That’s the most sane explanation they could give for that notion that cancer runs in the blood. Cancer is either acquired from the environment we are exposed to like mesothelioma or the cancer developed from being exposed to the deadly asbestos. For me, any kind of cancer is horrible. I can’t sleep thinking that I am also prone to such kind of illness. God forbid!

Next week’s project

Next weekend’s project is transferring the desktop to our room. I don’t know what came to Ace’ mind that he said we’ll be transferring the PC to our room next week. I hope we could do it considering that our broadband’s cable is only 20m from the antenna itself so we need additional cable long enough to extend to our room unless we would pinch a hole in the window screen to let the cable in directly to our room. That way, we wouldn’t need additional HDMI cable anymore. I hope we could accomplish that project next week as I cannot do it alone. I can manage to set-up a computer set but I could not carry it to our room all by myself.

Composed Maya

Camera Critters

Meet Maya, one of our pet guard dogs. She’s almost 4 years old (based on human’s age). This one’s my favorite because she’s so composed - a very lady-like dog that sometimes resembles my late mother’s character, calm and reserved

Vacation rentals

I should have been halfway done with MIL company’s website if only I didn’t chat with my HS classmate, Pinky who is scheduled to have a vacation here in the Philippines October next year. The first plan was for me and Ace to meet her in HongKong, stay for a tour for 2 days and fly back to Davao. That was the plan when we had a chat few months ago. Now I don’t know if it will be pushed through. I would really want to but it would still depend on our resources. We had a really looongggg chat, recounting every place she’s been to for a vacation and the places she wanted to go to when she’ll be here. Pinky asked if going to Pearl Farm is worth the expense but I wanted Buenavista Island over the former though the latter is soooo expensive. How I wish there’s like the concept of Outer Banks around here where we could just rent a unit so we could really have a great vacation in the island. It’s like what Pinky mentioned about their Oregon trip one weekend last August where they just rent out a place and take care of their needs instead of paying for that services in the resort. We could save a lot from that vacation rentals than getting an expensive cottage in a resort.
