It’s been so hot the whole day. All windows are open including the front door so air could get in. Ace was still sick so he was lying with the comforter on the living room while I was occassionally checking up on his temperature and giving him a cold compress for his fever to subside. With how HOT the house is, I am starting to wish we could get an air conditioner for our room or consider Ace’ long-term solution - to move to other place. Ows, I love that solution especially if it’s our own so I could do whatever I wanted and manage the house on my own way. If we’re lucky enough to find a place, I’m sure it would be a LOT of work for me and Che-Che (who else could help us in packing and unpacking?). If it’s only us, we surely don’t need to hire movers but if we’ll be moving with PILs, we definitely need lotsa moving pods for all their things. Moving pods is better than the container vans I guess because it is convenient. We could actually put in things easily without the need to climb up the container vans because moving pods can sit just on the ground. Such a convenience for me, if ever. Anyway, I hope that move will be soon.
I almost forgot we’re running out of our daily 3-in-1 facial cleanser. I am actually sharing with Ace’ because I haven’t got mine since I had the last pea size from the container a month ago. The brand we’re using isn’t available in cosmetic counters in the malls so I need to contact our dealer where I used to get the product. I am planning to order the products online directly from US but the shipping would cost us much so I’d better get from the local outlet here in town. I just can’t get away with the product because we’ve been using it for 5 years already and so far Ace never had problem with acne from then on. Hence the home acne treatment he’s been doing before was stopped and religiously used the 3-in-1 facial cleanser. Our face vanity seemed to be very expensive to others but it is literally cheaper compared to others even to the local brands.

Last weekend was a different one because we’re in other island far from here. We’re actually in Dumaguete City to attend hubby’s only sister’s wedding. Dumaguete City is known for the famous Silliman University that was founded in 1901. Though I’ve been to that place many times, I never get tired of going around the campus since Ace have always been so gracious to show me around and because it reminds me of my alma mater. The two have something in common….the huge trees along the university roads and pathways. While in my alma mater we have the welcome arc at the main entrance, Silliman University has the so-called PORTALS.
Hope everybody had a great week ahead. Join the fun here.
When we do grocery shopping, green mongos is one of the items that shouldn’t be absent from the cart. I see to it that we have green mongo because it’s one of my favorite and one of the cheapest way for us to have a protein-rich meal. Green mongo with pork (we actually have that for dinner the other day) is one of the recipes my late Mamang taught me so it has some sentimental value to me. Ace likes it a lot, no question. But he still have issues with my “adobong sitaw” (string beans cooked with soy sauce and vinegar). According to him, Mamang’s “adobong sitaw” tastes better than mine. Ouch! He compares my dishes with my late mother’s. But that’s with that dish only. He’s got nothing to compare with the rest of my dishes. The good thing with Ace is that he is not picky. He learned to adopt some Ilocano traits from me when it comes to choice of food…we can actually eat grasses..err…green leafy veggies. Hence, he’s not hard to feed. Now I am looking for other recipe sources for veggies as I am planning to have a vegetarian diet sooner or later though we’re actually not into all-meat dishes all the time. I’m just planning to include tofu in our meals which I’m sure would go perfectly with beans be it string or just the green beans. For sure easy green bean recipes are available online to add some variety on what I already knew. Anyway, time for dinner already, we have “tinolang manok” (chicken ginger stew with vegetables) in which I have put on chili leaves freshly picked from the yard. Yummy!
A day after we arrived home from our trip, I was hit by a flu virus. Ace was so worried nobody could look after me. Well, I just managed to take care of myself while he was at work and Che-Che was in school. I spent the day lying in the bench in the living room with a wet towel on my forehead and occasionally rubbing my arms and legs with another wet towel. Times like that, I am supposed to loose my appetite but what I wanted is to eat, eat and eat…not with rice but with fruits and I have consumed lots of banana and have eaten one whole watermelon that Ace bought from the market. Since I didn’t had so much carbohydrates for days now, I guess I have lost a pound or more so I don’t need appetite suppressants just to loose weight. By just getting sick, I could loose the extra pounds that I wanted to get rid of. Now I am craving for watermelon and mangoes. I hope Ace could get me some tomorrow.
