Tuesday Night Out

A high school classmate went home from Manila. It’s only the 2nd time she went back in her hometown since we graduated high school. Hence, we haven’t seen her for 11 years. Gosh it makes my head ache because we’re already old and I’m already counting decades*sigh*. She’ll be flying back to Manila today so we spent the night out with our favorite pasttime….VIDEOKE. (Read this….most of us are frustrated SINGERS) Of course, I wouldn’t go there without Ace. (Ace has always been present in our batch gettogethers). I don’t know if we are only conservative or just don’t wanna spend much but the usual bonding activity of our batch is, dine out (just a barbeque would do) and go to videoke bars afterwards. With that, we usually spend more than a hundred pesos (each). KURIPOT! hehehe.

Upon receiving a text message from one of our batchmates, I immediately informed Ace that we’re going out with friends tonight. Hope he could be able to arrive from work early so that we could go. Anyway, Ace arrived around 9PM….earlier than the usual. Yey! We can hang out with friends. I am also excited to see Ami Sheila and to personally introduce Ace to her ‘coz they haven’t met since then.

Again, Ace was the star of the night…ever! This time, we have another singer aside from Ace and Doc Penchie (the videoke queen) ‘coz Ami has a singing voice also. I can’t dare to sing ‘coz my voice is for bathroom only. Not for public ears…hahaha. Anyway, we really had a great time and adjourned the session at around 1AM. Ace hasn’t eaten dinner yet so we headed to Dimsum Diner and he got Salted Fish Fried Rice while I had some siomai. Dennis (Doc Penchie’s BF) had a Halo-Halo in the wee hours in the morning while Doc Pench and Marie had siomai and congee. It’s already past 2 in the morning when we parted ways. I’m worried with Ace because he had to go to work before 8AM so he has only 4 hours of sleep. Anyway, we did enjoy bonding with friends so it’s worth it.

Ella’s Chamyto

It’s Saturday once again….a day for grocery. Ace went home early and we did have time going to the supermarket to get our stocks for the week. Of course, we went with MIL and this time, with Ella (my niece) because Ace wanted to bring her. Before we left the house, she was instructed not to get what she wanted like her favorite chocolates, etc. While on the way, I am also telling her the same and she agreed. She was so excited when we went inside the supermarket and she started on telling me everything she wanted so I reminded her of what we agreed upon.

Down the lane, she saw a hand sanitizer and got one justifying that she needs it for hers was lost somewhere else. Then, she saw Coco Crunch but Ace told her to bring it back. Later, she’s telling me “Tita, sabi ni Mommy magpabili daw ako ng polbo ko. Yung malaki.” (Tita, Mommy said I’ll get a baby powder. The big one.) I told her to remind me later since we already passed by the lane where baby powders are displayed. She then saw biscuits and got what she wanted…then get a pack of Chamyto demanding that she’ll get 2 packs. Ace told her we will not get the pack of biscuit if she’ll have two Chamyto so she put the other pack back in the shelf. Good thing she hasn’t seen some candies and chocolates as we intentionally diverted her attention when we passed by that lane.

While hopping from one lane to the other, she kept on reminding me of her talcum powder. When we get there, she insisted on getting the biggest one but I told her we’ll put back all her biscuits, chamyto and milk if she’ll get the biggest powder. So, she agreed on getting the smaller one. This time, what she got is different from what she’s using.

On the way home, I told her not to drink all her Chamyto in one sitting (’coz she usually does it everytime we get her a pack) and she said yes. So, when we arrived home, she only had one bottle. True to her words, she just drink 1 bottle of Chamyto a day.

Moments like this….

For more than two weeks that my niece - Ella - is here, the house seemed complete. Her giggles fills the house much more her alto voice when she sings. One minute she is laughing….another minute she cries. Sometimes, it’s quite irritating but I enjoyed the moments she’s here. When she’s busy with her coloring books and her drawing projects, that’s the time her mouth stopped talking. She’s a bubbly little girl. She even talks to our dogs, Puto and Maya and to our cat, Kiaw-Kiaw. When she’s not inside the house, you can find her with the dogs outside.

One day, she asked her Dad if she can go outside to play with Puto and Maya. Her Dad said “no” for she has already taken a bath. The next day, my brother-in-law told her to take a bath and Ella said “no” because she wanted to play outside the house. Well, she’s already applying logic.

Last Saturday, I saw her playing outside the house with her hands wrapped with clear plastic. She wrapped her hands so that she can play with the dogs.LOL. Poor Ella, she just enjoys the company of the dogs because she don’t have playmates. Since Ella is not around since yesterday, the house is so quiet. I miss the usual “noise” when she’s here. I miss the voice that calls me “Tita”. Now I realized how much joy a child brings in the house….no matter how they behave. Those little angels make everybody’s day complete.

Too strict

I am contemplating how I deal with my youngest sister in her teens. Seems I am so strict or may I say, protective. Before she lived with us, Daddy said to watch over her but not too strict. But as an older sister and guardian, I cannot help but "implement" rules to her such that after school, she must go home directly, no night outs, etc…etc. I know I am hurting her for being strict because with Mamang before, she can go out whenever she wanted. She envies her classmates because they can do whatever they want….no Ate to say "no" to them. Many times, I felt guilty for being such a terror Ate to my sister. Times when I ask myself if am I doing the right thing. I know I always hurt her but I’m hurting also. All I wanna do is to protect her and make sure that she will finish her studies. Seems I am more strict than my parents but this is the only way I think is right for her. Before I "implemented" rules on her, I allowed her to go out with her friends provided that she’ll go home by 11PM. But she failed me that she didn’t go home. The worst is, she didn’t answered my calls and never informed where she is. Since my husband is the one who convinced me to allow her to go out, he was also worried that night. Hour after hour, he goes out of the house to wait for my sister. He felt so guilty and never able to sleep the whole night. What if something will happen to her? For sure I would be blamed for I am accountable for my sister now that she’s with me.

Blogging Monthsary

Today is my first monthsary in blogging. I came to know about blogging through my husband, Ace’, brother and his wife. They’ve been blogging since last year and it seems they really enjoyed doing it aside from the fact that they are earning from their hobby. Out of curiosity and desire to learn, I searched the net how to get started. Luckily, I found so many resources about this thing and the free hosting sites where I can start my blog. My first experimental blog was with wordpress until I discovered i.Ph. Blogging enhances my creativity and writing skills (this is where I’m good at, rather than speaking). Aside from it, it’s really nice to learn not only from the experiences of my gained friends but also from others (though I may not know them). Every day is a challenge to make my blog improve not only its layout but also its content. Hence, for almost two weeks, I’ve been in front of the computer day in and day out. I hope this is just during the initial stage for once I am satisfied with my blog’s layout, I can sit back and concentrate on its content.
