Halo-Halo in Bankerohan

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

I should have an interview with the GM of the company I am applying for today. The interview will be done in the plant so I could also see the plant’s facilities in Matalam, Cotabato. It’s a nearby town of my beloved hometown. Supposed to be, I’ll be riding the plant’s shuttle van fro, Davao City together with other employees who resides here in Davao. Jump off time should be 5AM so that we can reach the plant before 8AM. That means, I should be up as early as 3AM, prepare for the trip and be at the meeting place by 4:30AM. My alarm was set but wasn’t able to get up immediately as I want to sleep for a couple of minutes more. Thus, I slept back and woke up at 7AM. Oh, boy! I missed the ride. I was tired last night as we (together with my sisters, my bro-in-law and niece, Ella) and our niece, MGEL went to Bankerohan, ate some halo-halo (our first time to eat halo-halo in Bankerohan) and walk MGEL to UIC (University of Immaculate Concepcion) main campus dormitory where she is staying. After that, we walked to the open market and bought some veggies and spices. Yipee! Got some fresh veggies again.

Hubby’s Special Day

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Today is my dear hubby’s birthday. I’m not preparing anything….we’ll just have a dinner at a buffet resto in downtown area. That has been the tradition already everytime a member of the family celebrates his/her birthday. It’s more practical if you’re in a budget, and of course, effortless. I don’t have to prepare. Anyway, I still do wanna cook for Ace’ birthday next time. Will cook lotsa spaghetti….his all-time favorite. Well, gotta go for now. Need some laundry thing to do.

To Ace, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Food basket is full

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Since I decided to resign, I am consuming all my leave credits and scheduled on my leaves until my terminal leave. So, I am on leave since Monday and will report back to work after my husband, Ace’ birthday on Thursday. I have declared my own holidays!*lol*

Yesterday, my cousin’s wife invited us to go to her sister’s house blessing in Wellspring Highlands. So, I told Ace to prepare his “food basket” as Leila and Jerome will surely prepare lechon (roasted pig) for the blessing. Together with my sister’s family, we went to their place and true enough, we arrived there just in time that the lechon was placed in the table. Wow! So yummy! We missed eating such as we got our last taste of lechon last new year’s day.

After lunch, we stayed there and waited for the priest to arrive so that they can start with the blessing and after the blessing, it’s “merienda” time again. We had an endless conversation with other visitors until dinner time. We only went home by 9PM and Manang Inday did wrap some lechon for us to bring home. Wow! Menu for tomorrow is lechon paksiw. It’s been a great day. I should have missed this bonding time if I did not decide to resign ‘coz I just can’t leave the office without valid reason to take a paid leave.

Leaving the Rat Race

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Finally, I have decided to quit my regular job. Is this really the trend? If you don’t have a job, you become desperate and find all means just to have what you call “regular job” and when you’re into it, you wanted to quit. After getting all the trainings, honing my skills, becoming more competent for a higher position, leaving the rat race (corporate world) is all I wanted for now.

7 years ago, months after my graduation from the university, I’m almost desperate for not having a job. My other batchmates have their own….though it’s not in line with the course they finished. To boost me up, I told my parents I wanted to stay in the farm. I’ll have my flower garden there. Daddy said I’ll try getting an experience in the corporate world and leave if I wanted to. At least, I can say that I have experienced working in my field of expertise. Mamang, on the other hand, said I shouldn’t have get a degree, afterall, it’s what I wanted, having a flower farm. I know she’s been disappointed upon hearing that I wanted to be in the farm instead of finding a job.

Anyway, I’m sure Daddy won’t disagree with my decision ‘coz at the end of the day, it’s me who will suffer or reap the benefits of giving up on my career.
